Proposed Location: Three miles northwest of the Town of Mojave, 11 miles east of the City of Tehachapi
Electricity Production Capacity: 300 megawatts (combined public and private land)
Company: Alta Windpower Development, LLC
Acreage: 3,200 acres (2,083 acres of BLM land, 1,117 acres of private land)
Status: Notice of Intent published in the Federal Register on 7/15/11
Public Comment: Comment period will follow Draft EIS publication
Electrictrical Transmission Connection: The project would tie into Southern California Edison's Windhub substation
Company's Expected Benefit: The project would generate enough electricity to power 90,000 homes.
Public Comments
Publication of the NOI initiates a public scoping period of 30 days, period ending August 15, 2011. During the scoping period, the BLM will solicit public comments on planning issues, concerns, potential impacts, alternatives, and mitigation measures that should be considered in the analysis of the proposed action.

Public Meetings and Hearings
The EIS process is initiated with publication of a Notice of Intent (NOI) and requires public scoping. A NOI was published for this project on July 15, 2011. A joint BLM and Kern County public scoping meeting will be held on August 4, 2011, at the Veterans Building, Room 1, 15580 O Street, Mojave, CA from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Future meetings, hearings and any other public involvement activities will be announced at least 15 days in advance through public notices, media releases, and/or mailings.
