| For visitors seeking overnight camping facilities, the Shasta Campground provides 22 camp units with sites for tents and recreational vehicles. Hookups are not available and campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis. The campground has picnic tables, fire rings, trash collection, and potable water. There is a daily campsite fee. Shasta Campground is located on the western side of Shasta Dam in the immediate vicinity of the main Chappie-Shasta OHV Staging area. This campground is located on Forest Service land and is maintained and administered by the Shasta Trinity National Recreation Area. Directions to the Chappie-Shasta OHV Staging Area and Shasta Campground From Redding, take Interstate 5 north about 10 miles to the Shasta Dam exit. Follow Shasta Dam Boulevard 2 miles; turn right on Lake Boulevard to Shasta Dam. A permit is required to cross Shasta Dam at this time (see PERMITS AND REGULATIONS). After crossing Shasta Dam, turn left and travel 2 miles to the facilities.
