Fishing Guide List
BLM-Redding will be accepting fishing guide Special Recreation Permit applications
from August 10th, 2015 through August 28th, 2015
The BLM, in agreement with the Forest Service, manages up to 100 commercial fishing guide permits on the Trinity River from Lewiston downstream to Burnt Ranch. BLM accepts permit applications if open spots are available (usually due to non-renewal or cancellation of a permit). Permits are awarded based on the number of open spots available and approval of applications. Applying for a permit does not guarantee that you will receive a permit. If there are more applicants than available permits, names will be drawn at random to determine who is awarded a permit. If you are interested in applying for a permit, please download and complete the Special Recreation Permit Application (link below) and return it to the address at the bottom of the page. Alternatively, you can e-mail the completed application to: firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to: 530-224-2172. Be sure to write "Fishing Guide Permit Application" on the envelope or subject line. Make sure to include a valid e-mail address and phone number where messages are regularly checked. Please do not submit your application before the open application window starts on the 10th. Your application must be received by the BLM-Redding Field Office by 4:30 PM PST on August 28th to be considered. Late applications will not be considered. (For applications sent in by postal mail, they must be postmarked by August 28th, and received by the BLM-Redding Field Office no later than September 10th).

If your name is drawn and you are given the opportunity to get a permit, you will be required to submit proof of liability insurance (minimum coverage requirements are $500,000 per occurrence/$1,000,000 annual aggregate) with both USDI-Bureau of Land Management and USDA-Forest Service listed as additional insured on the proof of insurance certificate. You are responsible for maintaining insurance coverage on a continuous basis throughout the year. You will be required to pay the minimum fee of $105 up front, and submit post-use reports and any fees due ($105 or 3% of gross revenue, whichever is greater) by August 15th each year. In addition to these requirements, you must abide by all permit stipulations, CA Department of Fish and Game regulations, and must have a current CA Department of Fish and Game Guide License (you will need to provide BLM with a photocopy of the guide license). You will also be required to submit a Plan Of Operations for your commercial guiding activities. All of these items must be completed and submitted to the BLM-Redding Field Office within 30 days from when your name is drawn in order to get a permit. If these items are not submitted within 30 days from when your name is drawn, you will not be awarded a permit. It is your responsibility to make sure that your paperwork and fees are turned in on time and that your contact information (phone, address, e-mail) is up to date.
Please call 530-224-2179 or 224-2157 if you have any questions.
