Monument Advisory Committee

The Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Advisory Committee (MAC) was established in accordance with the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Act of 2000 (16 U.S.C. 431nt) and functions under provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), Public Law 92-463, 5 U.S.C, and in accordance with the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Advisory Committee Charter.

There are 15 primary members and 15 alternate members of the MAC.  Members are U.S. citizens serving without pay and appointed for three-year terms by the Secretary of the Interior with concurrence by the Secretary of Agriculture. The MAC - consisting of representative members from State and local jurisdictions; the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians; a natural sciences expert; local conservation organization; local developer or building organization; the Winter Park Authority; and Pinyon Community Council - advises the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture through the Designated Federal Official/National Monument Manager on National Monument Management Plan implementation issues.
