A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Draft EIS for Santa Ana Wash Land Exchange

The BLM has issued the Notice of Availability for the Draft South Coast Resource Management Plan Amendment and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Santa Ana River Wash Land Exchange. The notice was published in the Federal Register on Friday, July 24

2009. The public comment period will be 90 days and end on October 22, 2009.

 This proposed land exchange would be between the BLM and the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District. The land exchange would affect the Santa Ana River Wash ACEC and would require an amendment to the 1994 South Coast Resource Management Plan and Record of Decision. The proposed land exchange would exchange public land for offered lands of equal value owned by the San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District.
 
This notice serves as an invitation for the public and other cooperating agencies to provide comments on content of the EIS. Comments must be received by October 22, 2009.
