Project Vitals

Proposed Location: Riverside County, 13 miles southwest of Blythe

Electricity Production Capacity: 500 MW on private land

Company: Rio Mesa Solar Holdings, LCC (BrightSource)

Acreage: Approximately 3,805 acres of private land

Status: A Notice of Intent to prepare a Draft Environmental Impact Statement was published on August 29, 2012.

Public Comment: Publication of the NOI initiates a public scoping period of 30 days, ending September 28, 2012.

Electrical Transmission Connection: This is a generation-tie line across BLM land connecting the private land project to the Colorado River substation.

Public Comments 

Publication of the NOI initiates a public scoping period of 30 days, ending September 28, 2012. During the scoping period, BLM will solicit scoping comments on Rio Mesa Solar Holdings, LLC’s request for a right-of-way (ROW) authorization to develop, construct, operate, maintain, and decommission the 10-mile gen-tie line, a three-mile service power line, and three miles of access roads on BLM-managed land. Specifically, BLM is seeking issues, concerns, potential impacts, alternatives, and mitigation measures that should be considered in the analysis of the proposed action and will use them to prepare the draft environmental documents to be available for public review later this year.
