Needles Field Office

Volunteer Program

The Needles Field Office traditionally holds its NPLD events in the spring or late fall to avoid the extreme temperatures that are typical in our area during September, when NPLD is typically held.  This year the event was held on March 31.  The date coincided with two major events staged by our partners, the North American Land Sailing Association (NALSA) and the North American Buggy Expo (NABX).

Volunteers cleaned up litter that had blown out of campsites on the lakebed and become captured in brush along the shoreline.  Additionally, volunteers and Boy Scout Troop 321 from Las Vegas spruced up the entrance to Ivanpah Dry Lake by cleaning out and replacing a culvert, resurfacing the road way, and replacing entrance and kiosk signs.
