Take it Outside - Kids Fishing Day 2009
The Bureau of Land Management, Needles Field Office partnered with San Bernardino County Parks (Moabi Regional Park), San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to provide a free fishing experience for 72 Kids on Saturday, Sept. 26. Starting at 7:00 am the event ran for four hours, with total of 72 people participating.
Kids and parents learned “hands on” fishing skills, and
Tread Lightly Principles that when practiced during recreation activities will help insure recreation opportunities for years to come.
Several kids caught their first fish ever during the event and all participants received a “Take it Outside” Bandana participation gift. Additional prizes donated by local businesses, consisting of fishing combos, beach toys and T shirts were awarded during drawings held hourly throughout the event.
The overall reaction of both agency staff and those taking part was one of good old family fun and a wish to continue this annual event.
