On a cool morning you could catch a glimpse of a badger, mountain lion, or golden eagle. Maybe you'll see a black-tailed deer, turkeys, bobcats, coyotes, gopher snakes, red tailed hawks, Canada geese, coast horned lizards, or California quail.
Once acquainted with these animals, a regular visitor to the BLM Fort Ord Public Lands will begin to learn the daily and seasonal patterns of animal behaviors. When they are most active? How do they care for their young? What do they eat and how do they get their food?
Remember to always give these wild animals the space they need from people so that you can watch their natural behaviors without forcing them to react to or be frightened by you. |
