Archaeology Month is part of a national program endorsed by the Society for American Archaeology to promote the preservation of our Nation's heritage. California Archaeology Month is sponsored by the Society for California Archaeology and supported by the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service and California State Parks. California Archaeology Month is observed in October to integrate with California's Kindergarten - Grade 12 educational curriculum on Native American and California history.

Field Office Public Events
Lecture: "Archeology and History of Fort Ord National Monument" - Presented at various locations in northern Monterey County throughout the month of October and also on Access Monterey Peninsula (AMP) public television.
On July 18-19, 2015, an advanced workshop for the California Archaeological Site Stewarship Program (CASSP) was held by the BLM Hollister Field Office to locate, identify, and record historic structures and features at the Coast Dairies Management Area in Santa Cruz County.
