A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Timbrush/Date Flat Road Closure

The Bureau of Land Management, Mother Lode Field Office, has CLOSED the Timbrush/Date Flat area to motorized vehicle use begining on July 1, 2010. Vehicles are permitted on designated routes only.

The Sierra Resource Management Plan was finalized and signed in February 2008.  This plan called for closure of the area and to limit motorized use to designated routes only.

Close to motorized use the following roads or areas:

  • All unauthorized access points into the Merced River WSA and designated Wild segment of the Merced River.
