Volunteer Program

On Saturday September 29, 2007 the El Centro Field Office hosted a National Public Lands Day (NPLD) event which drew 16 volunteers and 5 staff members.

Carrie Simmons, BLM Archeologist, advised the group on Cultural and Archeological concerns and issue for the area and Park Ranger Jabe Beal instructed the group on safety concerns and practices.

From 9:00am to 3:00pm volunteers from the Sierra Club, Desert Protective Council, and concerned citizens collected three large truck loads of trash from the edges of the Jacumba Wilderness and the Table Mountain Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). These areas are located in Eastern San Diego County.
