After the Storm - Road Conditions

The recent storms of the past week (1/19 - 1/22) have made travel on some of the roads in the dunes' area sketchy at best.  Here's a breakdown of what you should be on the lookout for:

Wash Road:  While the road received some water, it remains passable for 2WD vehicles for its length to Wash 25.

Niland-Glamis Road, north of Hwy 78:  Passable for 2WD vehicles for the first 5 miles north of Hwy 78, beyond which areas of the road are washed out and deeply rutted.  Watch for wet areas and mud.

Ted Kipf Road:   Passable for 2WD vehicles south of Hwy 78 up to Vista Mine Road.  From the south, passable for 2WD vehicles in between Ogilby Road and Walker Way. Watch for wet areas and mud.

Ogilby Camp South Access Loop:  The entire southern loop (from Dunes Vista, see map ) received heavy water damage, with some areas completely washed out and sharply rutted.  Watch for wet areas and mud.  Not recommended for 2WD or RV travel.

Ogilby Camp North Access Loop:  The northern route into Ogilby Camp (near railroad tracks) fared better, though portions of the road are washed out and heavily rutted.  Vehicles pulling trailers should travel with care.
