Hikes are free; participation is by reservation. The hike hotline reservation number is (760) 337-4415. We will begin accepting requests at noon of the Tuesday before each hike. Callers should leave their name, phone number and number of people in their party(max. 4). Based on safety considerations, 20 is the maximum number of participants allowed on each hike. If the requested number of participants exceeds the maximum number, reservations will be allocated in the order of calls. Participation may also be limited to those who have been on less than two hikes during the season. If there are less than 3 participants for a hike, the hike will be cancelled. Make sure to check if you are on the list and for meeting locations by calling the hotline the day before the hike.

All hikes start at 8:00am unless noted otherwise. Trailheads are accessible by passenger vehicle and involve approximately 1 to 2 hours of driving each way. Car pooling is encouraged. BLM requires that any participant under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed. The length of each hike varies and hikers should expect rugged wilderness terrain with no trail or other man-made improvements. The difficulty rating is on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the most strenuous for the average hiker. Be sure to bring a day pack, lunch, at least 2 quarts of water per person, sturdy shoes, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and warm clothing. Trips will return to El Centro in the mid to late afternoon.
