Project Vitals

Proposed Location: Imperial Valley, southwest of El Centro near the Mexican border

Electricity Production Capacity: 275 megawatts

Company: Centinela Solar Energy, LLC

Acreage: 2,067 acres of private land

Status: BLM approval on December 29, 2011

Electrical Transmission Connection: 230 kV line will cross BLM land and interconnect with the Imperial Valley Substation

By the Numbers (Selected Alternative):

  • The project will generate enough electricity to power approximately 82,500 homes
  • An estimated 360 workers will be employed during peak construction, along with 5-7 permanent workers during operations
  • The project will utilize photovoltaic technology

Public Comments

The 30 day BLM public review and comment period for this DEIR/EA begins with publication of the document on 10/14/11. To ensure that all public comments will be considered, the BLM must receive comments on the EA by close of business on 11/13/2011.
