Cause:     At Litchfield Corrals this morning, two horses died. In the first incident, the veterinarian humanely euthanized an ailing 30-year-old mare with a tattoo from Arabian registry. Based on the tattoo, the mare was not a BLM wild horse, and was likely turned out into the HMA by its owner. The mare had an older colt that has been relocated to a pen with another orphaned colt. In the second incident, when wranglers entered the corral with mares and foals to get the older mare’s colt, a 6-year-old dry mare ran into a fence and broke her neck, dying instantly.
