Cause: The veterinarian humanely euthanized an ailing 30-year-old mare with a tattoo from Arabian registry. The mare had an older colt that has been relocated to a pen with another orphaned colt. In the second incident, when wranglers entered the corral with mares and foals to get the older mare’s colt, a 6-year-old dry mare ran into a fence and broke her neck, dying instantly. |

Cause: A young foal was captured this morning with a severe injury to his front left foot that was pre-existing. The foal was also missing part of his right ear. His chances of survival in the wild were extremely slim. He arrived at the Litchfield corrals and was treated by the wranglers until the vet could arrive. The vet assessed his condition and recommended that the foal be euthanized. He was euthanized this afternoon. The foal was approximately two weeks old and was sorrel in color.
