Tuttle Creek Campground



Elevation - 5,120 ft. Campground is shadowed by some of the most impressive peaks in the Sierra Nevada Range: Mt. Whitney, Lone Pine Peak and Mt. Williamson rise to the west of the campground. To the east is the Alabama Hills with its famous movie history. Beyond the Alabama Hills is the Owens Valley and Inyo Mountains Range. Camping is good throughout the season with plenty of opportunities for exploring, hiking, sightseeing. Closest amenities (groceries, gas) are in Lone Pine (4.5 miles).

BLM is currently looking for Campground Hosts for all Bishop Field Office campgrounds for the 2012 season.  For more information please contact Becky Hutto, Park Ranger at (760) 872-5008.

At a Glance


Open:The northern loop will be closed for five days starting May 14. All campers will have to camp on the southern side of the campground. This will allow workers to install a section of water line.  Last night to camp on the north side is May 12.  All sites in the southern loop are open.
Fees:First Come, First Served, No reservations accepted accept group campsite.
$5.00/night per site, 
Long Term Visitor Area permits accepted
Golden Age and Golden Access passes accepted for daily fee discounts.
Number of Sites:85 RV/tent sites, pull through trailer spaces.
Group CampsiteOne group site is located on the south eastern loop with 6 picnic tables and 4 fire rings. This site is reservation only, $30/night, call (760) 872-5008 to reserve.
Usage:Moderate
Restrictions:Horses are not prohibited, but not encouraged. Dogs must be on leash at all times.  This is bear country so food must be secured overnight and when not attended.  Always keep a clean camp and do not feed animals.

The availability of water for the 2012 season is dependent on Inyo County approval.

Directions: From Hwy 395, drive 3.5 miles west of Lone Pine on Whitney Portal Road, then 1.5 miles south on Horseshoe Meadow Road. Follow signs to campground.
