A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

The campground is now closed for reconstruction. This project will continue into 2012.  At this time there is no projected opening date for the 2012.

Current completion status as of 10/26/2011:

  • Pull through sites completed.
  • Picnic tables installed.
  • Firerings installed.
  • Lantern holders installed.
  • Well and tank completed. 


Campround Host Positions Available

BLM is currently looking for Campground Hosts for all Bishop Field Office campgrounds for the 2012 season.  For more information please contact Becky Hutto, Park Ranger at (760) 872-5008. 

 


 

Elevation - 4,975 ft. Campground is located on an alluvial fan, next to Horton Creek with an outstanding view of Mt. Tom and Wheeler Crest in the Sierra Nevada Range. Nearby is the Tungsten Hills. Wintering deer herds often graze in the early spring. Plenty of opportunities for exploring, hiking, sightseeing. Closest amenities are in Bishop (12 miles).

Directions: US Hwy 395 north, 8.5 miles to Sawmill Road. Turn left (south) onto Sawmill Road and then take an immediate right (west) onto Round Valley Road for 3 miles. Follow sign to campground.
