Goodale Creek Campground

Generally open second week of April through November 1st.  Fee: $5.00/night/site. Maximum Stay Limit is 14 days.

  • Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) Permits available, if wish to stay past maximum stay limit. Inquire at White Mountain Ranger Station in Bishop or Interagency Visitor Center in Lone Pine.
  • No potable water
  • First come - first serve, Campground capacity - 496 people
  • 62 RV/tent sites available, 5 pit toilets, picnic tables and campfire rings/stands (bring own firewood or purchase)
  • No electrical hook-ups
  • No horses allowed in campground

Elevation - 4,000 ft. Campground is tucked into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Range below a volcanic rock flow. Campground looks east, out to the Inyo Mountains Range and Owens Valley. Climate is high desert: Spring and fall are ideal times for camping. Summers can be very hot and dry. Some trees and willows are scattered throughout the sites. Aberdeen, nearby, has a very small store and café. Closest amenities (grocery, gas) are south in Independence (12 miles) or north, in Big Pine (15 miles).

Directions: 10 miles north of Independence on US Hwy 395, then 2 miles west on Aberdeen Road. Follow signs to campground.
