GROWTH HABIT:	Sulfur cinquefoil is an attractive perennial that grows 1 to 2 feet tall (2 to 7 cm). It produces well-developed rootstocks. Flowering occurs from May to July.
LEAVES:	The leaves are palmately compound with 5 or 7 toothed leaflets radiating out from the leaf stalk. The leaves are green on their underside rather than silvery as in many Potentilla species. The leaves and stems are sparsely hairy.
FLOWERS:	The light yellow flowers have 5 petals and each is notched at the end. The center is yellow and has numerous (30) upright stamens.
SEEDS:	Each flower produces numerous round seeds or achenes.
OTHER:	Sulfur cinquefoil, a native of Europe, is found in disturbed areas such as roadsides, and in rangeland when moisture is available.   This plant is easily confused with native Potentilla species and its identification should be confirmed by a plant specialist. This is not a weed of cultivated crops. Colonies of plants may infest undisturbed sites, too. Control is very difficult.
