Piedras Blancas Light Station

Outstanding Natural Area

Volunteers

Volunteers play an important role at the Piedras Blancas Light Station. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks, from native plant re-vegetation and maintenance, to tour guides, assistants and gift shop help. In addition to on-going individual volunteers, numerous community groups contribute their time.

Volunteering for the Bureau of Land Management: A Helpful Guide.

We Need You

Piedras Blancas Light Station Outstanding Natural Area is looking for volunteer guides, assistants, and gift shop staff to help with public tours. Guides lead tours and assistants help with tour flow and safety. Tours are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays year round and on Mondays through Saturdays during the summer.

It is fun to learn about light station history, and the natural history of Piedras Blancas, and to share with that knowledge with others. The scenery at Piedras Blancas is spectacular and dramatic. You never know what wildlife might be seen – everything from bumblebees to whales is possible. You will meet appreciative visitors and enjoy camaraderie with other volunteers. Plus, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you helped preserve and protect this beautiful, and very special, part of the central coast.

Tour training will be given on March 20, March 28, April 3, and April 11, 2015. Gift shop training can be arranged anytime.

Volunteers are also needed to help remove non-native plants from the Outstanding Natural Area and to help with routine maintenance at the light station. Join the Piedras Blancas Light Station volunteer family! For information on volunteering, call 805-924-1807 or email PBLSlibrary@gmail.com.
