TOUR INFORMATION

Public tours of the Piedras Blancas Light Station are offered September 1 through June 14 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 10 a.m.  Guided tours are the only public access to the station because of sensitive resource concerns and ongoing restoration activities.

From June 15 through August 31 tours are offered Monday - Saturday at 10 am.

There are no tours on federal holidays.

Tours last 2 hours and feature the historic lighthouse, support buildings, 
wildlife, plants and spectacular coastal scenery along an easy ½ mile interpretive trail.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress warmly. Please no pets!
Small children should be carried or placed in a stroller

Meet at the former Piedras Blancas Motel,
located 1.5 miles north of the light station.

Arrive at the motel at 9:45 am.
Do not wait at the gate to the lighthouse!

The fee is $10* for adults, $5* for ages 6 -17, no fee for children 5 and under.

Reservations are NOT required for tours of less than 10 people.

Whale of a tour and seminar

Watch for and learn about gray whales!

On the evening of April 20th, and also April 21th, there will be an opportunity to watch for whales and view the sunset at Piedras Blancas Light Station. A riveting presentation on gray whales will be given by Wayne Perryman, National Marine Fishery Service Project Leader for the gray whale calf population study at Piedras Blancas.

The sunset viewing/whale watching tour will begin at 6:30. Wayne’s presentation, “Gray Whales – What We Know and What We Thought We Knew” will begin at 7:45. This year has been an exciting year for gray whale enthusiasts. Learn all about the latest findings regarding these gentle giants of the sea.
