A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Field Guide: Mother Lode Geology South

This 3 day field conference examines the mines, geology and mining history between Maricopa and Jackson. There will be a Friday Evening Lecture Series in Mariposa History Center at the 7:00 9:00 p.m. Saturday's trip will be from Mariposa through Hornitos, La Grange and Coulterville to Jamestown. There is a Saturday Evening Lecture Series at the Tuolumne History Center is Sonora 7:00-8:30 pm. The Sunday tour starts in Columbia State Park and features a underground tour of the Hidden Treasure Mine. We have a second underground tour at Sutter Creek. This tour ends at the Kennedy Mine in Jackson. The cost of this field trip is $100 for the three days and includes admissions to all museums and mine tours.
