Nestled in the foothills of the imposing Southern Sierra Nevada, BLM's South Fork Fire Station is located just east of the beautiful Kern River Valley.  It's near prime access to Isabella Lake, the Kern River, the Kern Plateau, Kennedy Meadows, the Golden Trout Wilderness, and the Giant Sequoia National Monument.  In fact, the Pacific Crest Trail is just a few miles away from the station.
 
In the height of fire season, South Fork is home to up to 13 seasonal and permanent firefighters who spend their summer training, traveling, running, hiking, learning, and working hard to keep the residents of the KRV safe.
 
At their disposal are one 4 wheel drive, type 3,  heavy wildland fire engine; one 4 wheel drive, type 6, light wildland fire engine, a D6 fire dozer, and a 3500 gallon water tender.
