The South Fork Fire Station, located on State Highway 178 on the South Fork of the Kern River east of Lake Isabella, is probably our most active station. Its crew members are often the first units to respond to calls for assistance at vehicle accidents and medical emergencies. About 80 percent of their calls, however, are fire-related.
The South Fork Station is staffed seven days a week during the May through October fire season. Two engines are stationed at South Fork, a type III, model 14 engine and a type IV engine.

This unit is a tool that both BLM and interagency partners use to reduce fire hazards. The interagency partners have spent many hours of service in helping the residents clear the heavy brush and tree limbs that accumulate around the businesses and homes in the Lake Isabella area and adjacent federal lands. | | | Starting the attack in the readiness drill north of Onyx CA. |
