It is the primary Mission of the Midway Fire Station to provide fire protection for the BLM lands in Western Kern County, and south eastern San Luis Obispo County. The Carrizo National Monument represents the bulk of these BLM lands and as such is a very important part of the protection area for the Midway Station. Besides Fire suppression, Midway Station personnel are involved in prescribed fire and resource related projects within the Monument.
