Events

National Public Lands Day, is scheduled for September 28, 2013.  We are planning to do some work on the trailhead for the Caliente Mountain Ridge Trail.  We will post additional information as we finalize the plan for National Public Lands Day.

Alerts

Goodwin Education Center.  The education center will close for the season on May 26, 2013.  The center will reopen the first week of December 2013.

The Painted Rock Self-Guided Tour season is over.  Self-Guided Tours will resume on July 16, 2013.  Reservations will be required and can be made after May 1, 2013 at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 or TDD 1-877-833-6777.

Soda Lake/Painted Rock Guided Tours started on March 16, 2013.  Tours are held on Saturdays March 16 - May 25, 2013.  Reservations are required and must be made at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 or TDD 1-877-833-6777.

Travel Management Plan (TMP).  We are currently working on a TMP for the monument.  If you would like additional information on the plan please contact Ryan Cooper at racooper@blm.gov or John Kelley at jtkelley@blm.gov.  You can also review the meeting minutes and powerpoint presentation for the June 30, 2012, Monument Advisory Committee meeting for additional information.

Special Recreation Permit (SRP).  Groups visiting Carrizo Plain National Monument may require a SRP.  Please contact our Outdoor Recreation Planner at 661-391-4048 if your group is planning a visit to Carrizo Plain National Monument.

Please submit comments by midnight March 1 to Kevin Coodey at kcoodey@blm.gov.
