The Bakersfield Field Office manages 600,000 acres of public lands in eight Central California counties that stretch from the California Coast to the crest of the Sierra Nevada range, as well as 900,000 acres of federal mineral estate. Public lands managed by the Bakersfield office include Piedras Blancas Light Station Outstanding Natural Area at north of Cambria, the quarter-million-acre Carrizo Plain National Monument and the San Joaquin River Gorge.
