Maps and Publications
The following maps are available from the Bureau of Land Management Office in Sacramento. District and Field Offices carry maps for their geographic areas. Maps for areas outside of California need to be purchased from the BLM office in that state. Surface and Mineral Ownership Maps:
These maps depict, by color, land ownership. Privately owned lands are shown as well as public lands administered by various Federal agencies. These maps are particularly helpful to hunter, recreationists, and individuals seeking to locate mining claims. The maps are available in two editions: Surface and Surface/Mineral. The cost is $4.00 per map.
The scale is 1:100,000.
USGS Topographic Maps:
Topographic maps show natural and man-made features of the land. The shape and elevation of the terrain are portrayed by contour lines and features such as roads, towns, and water areas. These maps do not indicate land ownership. The maps sell for $6.00 each.
The State Office carries only the 7-1/2 minute quadrangels
California State Map:
The California State map is a large wall size map (5 feet by 4 feet) depicting land ownership patterns for the entire state. It is colored coded to display the boundaries of the many Federally administered lands within the state. The map sells for $6.00.

Modoc Country Map:
The Modoc Country Map depicts portions of Shasta, Lassen, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties. The map is color coded to indicate private, state, BLM, USFS, and other federal agency lands. Recreation sites and opportunities are shown on the map. This map is also available at the Forest Service. It sells for $6.00.
