Description: Annual herb 2-4 inches tall. Leaves basal (at the base), 3/4 - 2 3/4 inches (2-7cm) long,  oblanceolate to elliptic with smooth edges, and sometimes lobed. Inflorescence is a cyme, with 8-14 flowers on stalks 1/8 inch (1-3mm) long. The corolla is bell-shaped, 1/8 inch (3-4mm) long, with lavender petals. The fruit is an egg-shaped capsule, 1/8 inch (2-3mm) long, containing 2-4 pitted seeds, 1/16 inch (1.5-2mm) long.

Distribution:

Habitat: Open sandy to gravelly soils, pinyon/juniper woodland, coniferous forest. Elevation 5264 - 8448 feet.

Flowering Period: Blooms May - June.
