Description: Minute annual herb, 3/8 - 1 1/8 inches (1-3cm) high, with a few spreading branches from the base. Leaves thick with smooth edges, oblong shaped with a pointed/curved end, 1/8 - 1/4 inches (2-5mm) long, with tiny hairs above and hairless beneath. Flowers are crowded at ends of slender branches. Calyx is 1/8 inch (2-3mm) long. Corrola is bell-shaped, 3/16 inch (4-5mm) long, and white with a red-orange spot on each lobe. Fruit is a round to oval shaped capsule, 1/16 inch (1.5mm) long. Seeds are brownish with small, low bumps.

Distribution:

Habitat: Sandy places, creosote bush scrub, desert dunes. Elevation 624 - 6640 feet.

Flowering Period: Blooms March - May.
