Description: Annual herb 16 inches (4dm) tall. Leaves linear, smooth-edged or pinnately lobed, and less than 3 1/8 inches (8cm) long. Inflorescence are radiate heads with hairy involucres, 1/4 - 3/8 inches (6-10mm) long, and 12-18 phyllaries (bracts). Heads contain 6-13 ray flowers with yellow petals, 1/4 - 3/8 inches (5-10mm) long, and many 5-lobed, yellow disk flowers. Fruit are club-shaped, less than 1/16 inch (1.5mm) long.
Distribution:
Habitat: Vernal pools. Elevation 3.2 - 1504 feet.
Flowering Period: Blooms March - June.
