Recurved Larkspur

Description: Perennial herb with stem 7 - 34 inches (18-85cm) tall. Leaves generally basal with 3-11 lobes, and without hairs. The inflorescence is a raceme with a stalk 3/8 - 2 1/4 inches (1-5.6cm) long, and 10-25 flowers. Flowers contain 5 light blue sepals, a spur 3/8 - 3/4 inches (10-18 mm) long, and 4 petals, the lower ones white. Fruit are follicles 5/16 - 3/4 inches (8-21mm) long, with winged seeds.
Distribution:
Habitat: Poorly drained, fine alkaline soils in grassland. Elevation 9.6 - 2400 feet.
Flowering Period: Blooms March - May.
