Description: Annual herb .6 - 4 feet (2-12cm) tall, with upright, hollow stems, hairless below, and soft-hairy above. Leaves linear to spear-shaped, without hairs, 1 1/2 - 3 1/8 inches (4-8cm) long, with smooth edges, or lower leaves lobed. Inflorescence are radiate heads in cymes. The heads contain 10-14 pale yellow ray flowers, with petals 1/4 - 3/8 inches (6-10mm) long, and 28-60 yellow disk flowers. Fruit are achenes, with ray achenes 1/8 inch (3.5-4mm) long, and beaked. 

Distribution:

Habitat: Clay soils of floodplaines. Adobe flats and serpentine. Elevation 960 - 3040 feet.

Flowering Period: Blooms April - May.
