Description: Perennial herb, 3/8 - 3/4 inch (1-2cm) tall, with a clumped growth form. Stems upright. Leaf oblanceolate to spoon-shaped, 1/4 - 1/2 inch (.5-1.2cm) long, with stiff, sharp, matted hairs. Inflorescence is head-like and dense, with a 3/16 inch (5mm) white corolla. Fruit are nutlets (about 4), are spear-shaped to pear-shaped, and 1/8 inch (2.5-3mm) long.

Distribution: Inyo County, CA; Inyo Mountains

Habitat: Rocky, sub-alpine slopes and ridges of dolomitic origin at elevations of 7500-9500 feet (2500-3100 m).

Flowering Period: July-August

Similar Plants: Cryptantha roosiorum is oftem confused with the dwarf form of C. flavoculata, but is distinguished by its more compact form and broad, silky-haired leaves.
