Description: An annual herb with erect stems less than 40 inches (1 meter) in height.  Leaves are narrow-lanceolate in shape.  Buds pendent. Flowers have bilobed petals that are bright pink to magenta, length generally 1.5 times width.

Distribution: This species is known only from Mariposa County, mostly from the Merced River drainage.  BLM manages extensive habitat, notably in the Merced River canyon.

Habitat: Found in chaparral and foothill woodland on serpentine rock or not, at less than 2700 feet (1000 m).

Flowering Period: May-July
