Description: Annual herb with stems less than 3.2 feet (1 meter) tall. Leaves spear-shaped, 3/4 -2 3/8 inches (2-6cm) long, and 2 - 3 1/8 inches (5-8mm) wide. Flower petals are lavender and wedge-shaped, with 2 petal lobes less than 1/5 petal length. Flowers contain 4 sepals 3/8 - 5/8 inches (9-15mm) long. Fruit are 4-sided capsules, 3/8 - 1 inch (1-2.5cm) long, and 1/16 inch (1.5-2mm) wide. The capsules contain many brown seeds, 1mm long.  

Distribution: Northern Sierra Nevada Foothills.

Habitat: Foothill woodland. Often roadcuts. Elevation 944 - 2832 feet.

Flowering Period: Blooms May - July.
