Description: Perennial, rhizomatous herb. Leaves about 1 5/8 inches (42mm) long, greenish with a short tapered, sharp tip. Inflorescence is a discoid head with 7-29 disk flowers. Corolla is 1/4 - 3/8 inches (6.5-10mm), and yellow. Fruit is a black, linear-shaped achene, 1/8 - 5/16 inches (3.5-7.5mm) long, 1/16 inch (.5-1.2mm) wide.
Distribution:
Habitat: Dry open sites on granitic soils. Elevation 3520 - 8000 feet.
Flowering Period: Blooms July - August.
