Description: Perennial, bulbiferous herb. Bulb 3/8 - 5/8 inches (10-15mm), egg-shaped, and red-brown color on the outside. Stem 6-14 inches (15-35cm) tall. Inflorescence is a compact umbel (flower stalks coming from the same point) with 10-35 flowers, each 2/8 - 3/8 inch (6-8mm). Stalks of flowers are straight and 1/4 - 1/2 inch (7-12mm) long. Petals and sepal parts are upright, egg-shaped, have a smooth edge, white, and are red in flower.  Stigma has 3 lobes.

Distribution:

Habitat: Grassy openings in coastal-sage scrub, clay, chaparral, pinyon and juniper woodland, and cismontane woodland.

Flowering Period: Blooms March - May.
