The BLM joins Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in co-sponsoring the first "Off the Grid Energy Fest"

Live, outdoor music opened this fun weekend event held at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area recently. The "Off the Grid Energy Fest" had numerous demonstrations, and information on solar energy, wind turbines, low wattage light bulbs, hay bail homes, and a special area with solar powered toys for the kids to enjoy.

A popular free guided tour of the Mammoth Lakes Geothermal Plant was offered. In addition, five energy-related workshops featuring new technologies in solar and wind powered systems were held on Saturday. This was the first Energy Fest in what Mammoth hopes will turn into an annual event.

Several BLM offices were involved in manning a BLM booth at the Energy Fair portion of the event. Allison Shaffer of the Washington BLM Energy Office, helped design the booth and provided some exciting flyers and information on renewable energy to hand out. Allsion also answered numerous questions on energy production on the public lands.

Sean Hagerty of the California State office was there to assist, along with Cheryl Seath and Jim Jennings of the Bishop Field Office.
