Deena Wilson is the new Equal Employment Opportunity manager for BLM-California, replacing Mario Gonzales who retired in June. She manages the EEO complaint process and alternative dispute resolution program. Prior to taking on the duties of EEO manager, Deena was the dispute resolution specialist in the EEO office, a position she held since 2000.
Deena received her bachelors degree in criminal justice in 1980 and a masters in public administration in 1988 from California State University-Sacramento. Her government career spans over 20 years, starting in 1983 with USDA Farmers Home Administration. In 1989 she transferred to the IRS to work in training and administration. Deena came to BLM in December 1997 as a training officer but, with her desire to help people work through issues and manage change, she was more comfortable in the dispute resolution arena.
Deena was recently a co-contributor to a book titled "Journaling the Journey." The book describes and encourages people to capture daily thoughts and reflections in a journal. The book integrates inspirational stories throughout the book and she is one of the contributors for that portion.
Deena is a California native, spending most of her growing up years in Oakland. She now lives in Elk Grove with her husband of 16 years and two daughters, age 15 and 8.
