Fire Engineer
Alturas Field Office

"I work with a great team."
Todd Whigham is a new Fire Engineer out of the Alturas Field Office.  His primary responsibilities include driving the fire apparatus to and from vegetation fires and all other risk activities.  He is currently stationed at the West Valley Fire Station.

He came to the Bureau of Land Management with over ten years experience in the firefighting world.  He was with California Department of Forestry in 1993 and 1994 at Jarbo Gap Station #36 and then with the Forest Service from 1995 to 2004.  Todd worked for the Lassen National Forest, Rio Grand National Forest, and in Oregon for the Umpqua National Forest.  Todd was also a Volunteer Firefighter for Concow, California.

Todd took his current position with the BLM because he was looking to return to California and to work with a great team.  He originally comes from Saguache, Colorado and is currently a resident of Oroville, California.

If Todd is looking to relax he spends his weekends with his friends playing paintball or video games and wake boarding.  With his livelyhood surrounding fire, its prevention, its control and ultimate distruction it is understandable that one of his favorite hobbies should involve water!

When asked what drives him, Todd responds very simply, "The call of duty."
