Richard Rotte

Realty Specialist

"...when the opportunity to enter the Lands Academy to become a Realty Specialist was presented, I jumped.

Richard is a Realty Specialist out of BLM's Barstow Field Office and is a resident of Calico, California.  His family consists of his wife Debbie, his son Glenn and Glenn's wife Virginia, his son Kyle and Kyle's wife Julie and their three children Hannah, Leigh, and Levi.

In his current position Rich processes rights-of-way, R&PP (Recreation and Public Purposes Act), and Land Use Permit applications and renewals, and annual rental for rights-of-way, R&PP, and Land Use Permits.  He actually was surfing the web when he saw an announcement for a position in Barstow and "...started with BLM as the Barstow Field Office Support Services Supervisor and when the opportunity to enter the Lands Academy to become a Realty Specialist was presented, I jumped."  He transfered to Lands in February of 2002 and has been with BLM since August of 1999.

What did he do before coming to BLM?  Well, he was married in August of 1971 and then joined the Army in September of the same year.  He retired as a Sergeant Major after 25 years.

Rich holds an A.S. in Independent Studies from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas; and A.A. in Computer Science from Barstow Community College and a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Maryland.

When Rich is looking to recharge he looks to fixing things, solving issues and working on home projects. He is currently working on "building fences and landscaping to get ready for the installation of an inground pool."  He also enjoys  "...riding quads from the garage to enjoy 3 million acres of public land (on designated roads and trails)."  Don't worry Rich -- we never doubted that you only rode your OHV in designated areas!
