Welcome Miriam Morrill, the latest addition to the Branch of Fire and Aviation. Miriam joined BLM the last week of December 2003 as the Fire Mitigation amd Education Specialist. She is still piecing together the many parts of her program and getting to know the many partners and constituents --- but, generally, she manages the community assistance and rural fire assistance grant programs and coordinates state-wide fire mitigation and education efforts.
Miriam graduated from Humboldt State University with a degree in environmental biology and zoology. She worked for the Tahoe and Lassen National Forest in timber, fire and wildlife program and has also worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Sacramento as an endangered species biologist and in the external affairs office. She worked briefly for BLM as a biologist in Hanksville, Utah.
Miriam was born in Sacramento, but spent most of her early life in various communities in northern California. She enjoys quiet time in the outdoors, reading, and painting. Her more active interests include white water kayaking and mountain biking.
She currently resides in Yuba City with her husband Kipp Morrill.
