Redding Field Office

"I have a strong interest in computers and using technology to improve the workplace.

David has been with the BLM since 1993 and now works with the Redding Field Office.  He began his BLM career in the Arcata Field Office as the Computer Specialist and GIS Coordinator, then worked in the Palm Springs Field Office in the same role.  For 4 /12 years he traveled the north state highways as regional System Administrator for the Alturas, Surprise and Eagle Lake Field Offices.  He has been the System Administrator in Redding since early 2000.  In 2003, David took on the challenge of project manager for the Windows XP deployment in California, a job he found very rewarding.

David is a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran, serving in Okinawa and Guam.  He holds a BA degree in Sociology and worked for a non-profit agency after college.  In a past life he was a professional photographer doing portrature, weddings and commercial photography.  He spent eleven years with the City of Redding Community Development Department, developing his skills in personal computers and software.  Before coming to BLM he was a self-employed software consultant specializing in online documentation and text-search technology in government and the banking industry.

A renewed interest in woodworking and life-long interest in photography provide David with an outlet and with inspiration.  David is a resident of Redding, California along with his wife Patty.  Together they enjoy bird watching, travel and exploring back roads.
