Sai Syhaphom grew up outside the "Twin Cities" of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he obtained a a B.S. in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, and became a student engineer trainee in the STEP program for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
He accepted a civil engineering position with NRCS in Ontario, California in 2001. In 2003, he provided technical assistance during the Southern California wildfires, working for NRCS to help save lives and protect property.
Sai joined the BLM in 2006 and provides engineering assistance to the Desert District field offices. Sai enjoys golfing, traveling and watching sporting events.
