"I was looking for a career that would be around for a long time."

Nick LaFazio joined BLM as a law enforcement officer in January 2006.  He also trains new rangers on policy, arrest procedures, search and seizure, use of force and federal and state law.

After graduation from Fort Bragg High School, Nick served in the U.S. Army until 1991.  After the Army, he worked in the logging industry until 1997, when he decided to attend the College of the Redwoods Basic Police Academy.  After completing the police course he went to work as a deputy sheriff in Lake County for two years, then the Fort Bragg Police Department as a patrol sergeant.

When not patrolling the vast expanse of the California desert, Nick loves to spend time with his family, Amber, Hannah and Hailey.
