BLM Plans Prescribed Fire Project The BLM Bishop Field Office is conducting prescribed fire operations in the form of pile burning in the Green Creek and Virginia Creek areas, south of Bridgeport, as weather conditions permit throughout the fall and winter months. Smoke may be visible at times from Highway 395, as well as from the community of Bridgeport and the Virginia Creek settlement. The pile burning completes the fuels reduction work begun in 2004 to reduce future wildland fire intensity and increase safety for nearby residents and firefighters. The fuels reduction work also enhances important sage grouse habitat. For more information, contact Dale Johnson, BLM Bishop Field Office fuels planner at (760) 872-5055. -BLM- Bishop Field
