BLM begins public
involvement in NPR-2 planning process
Public input is now being accepted
by the Bureau of Land Management on a proposed amendment to the Caliente Resource
Management Plan to cover newly transferred lands at Naval Petroleum Reserve-2
(NPR-2) in Kern County, California.
NPR-2 Amendment Project Manager Jeff Prude said the proposed amendment to the
current resource management plan will contain a range of management alternatives,
including the preferred alternative, for these public lands. It also will include
a draft environmental assessment which analyzes the environmental effects of
each planning alternative.
Public comments are requested on potential issues, alternatives, as well as
any suggested planning criteria that BLM should use to guide the plan amendment
process. Comments will be received during this phase of the amendment process
until October 25, 2005.
Comments must be in writing and addressed to: Bureau of Land Management, 3801
Pegasus Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93308; Attention: NPR-2 Amendment Project Manager.
Comments may also be submitted via email to: jprude@ca.blm.gov.
Copies of the draft plan amendment documents will be mailed to requesters. Printed
or compact disc copies can be obtained by contacting the BLM Bakersfield Field
Office at (661) 391-6000.
For more information, contact NPR-2 Amendment Project Manager Jeff Prude at
